"The Mannheim artist Dietmar Brixy (*1961) is one of the most well known and successful artists in the Rhein-Neckar Metropolitan Region. In his sensual, almost forbiddenly beautiful paintings, Brixy moves between abstract action painting and fi gurative gestures. A graduate of the National Academy of Art, Karlsruhe, Brixy works not only with a brush, moreover with his bare hands directly on the canvas, sculpting thick oils into organic motifs. The results are dynamic, baroque, dancing yet contained color sensations that call to mind ginkgo, fi g, olive and lemon trees as well as bamboo and grapevines."
