Late heavy snowfall in March 2006 results in a variation on the bamboo theme. The stems and their otherwise vertical trajectory bend under the weight of snow, forming arching semicircles pointing toward the ground. The painter picks up on this image in content and form: in his painted curves and his choice of the tondo form. This period culminates in the “Bamboo Bubbles”, a rich cosmos erupting with burgeoning energy and pliancy. The fall exhibit is entitled “Runde Sache”.
» The circle is the form that has for centuries conveyed to us the idea of harmony, unity, and perfection. Brixy is fully aware of this symbolic tradition and freely plays with it to maximum effect. «
